Mojito
Saturday, March 21, 2015To optimize enjoyment of this beverage, consume on a sunny day.
The mojito is a colourful and versatile sort of drink. One could make it with strawberries and raspberries—as the one picture above was—or peaches or dragonfruit or nearly anything, really.
If you like eating the mint leaves and the fruit you can leave that in. If otherwise, straining the solution is an option.
Note, the quantities of the ingredients should serve only as a rough guideline.
Reagents:
1/2 cup mint leaves
1 tbsp sugar (or to taste)
3/4 cup fruit (strawberries, peaches, raspberries, blackberries, dragonfruit, or other or some combination of fruits)
Half a lime (or a quarter of a lemon)
3/4 cup crushed ice
Carbonated water to top up
1 shot of Bacardi rum
Directions:
1. Put mint leaves into a glass (however much you like).
2. Add sugar.
3. Muddle. Don't bash, muddle. The idea is to scratch and bruise the mint leaves with the sugar to release the flavours.
4. Squeeze in the lime and add the chopped fruits. Alternatively, chop the lime instead of squeezing it in.
5. Muddle some more.
6. Add crushed ice.
7. Pour in the carbonated water.
8. Add rum—again, however much you like.
9. Garnish with mint leaves and enjoy.
