Project 140911

It's that time of the year when I pull out all the stops and bake not 1, not 2, not even 3, but 4! cakes. And this time I've made it a wee bit simpler. All the cakes were frosted with a classic vanilla Swiss buttercream and were sandwiched with vla, or creme patissiere, in the typical Manadonese style I grew up with.

We had 4 different flavours, Michael has his chocolate cake, of course! Max loves everything vanilla, Belle has hers with hazelnut (she loves Nutella) and Monique has mocha. All cakes were laced with liqueur ... because it adds amazing depth of flavour.

Four cakes for one day, a week later we would have another, then a week after that, we would have more. September is indeed a very expensive month, calorie-wise even more so. Fortunately, these cakes don't last long. We have a list of fans to whom we deliver some slices, sharing the treats and more importantly, sharing the calories... ha... ha... They barely made it to the week after. Thank goodness!

Did you notice a little bit of clumsiness? Oh, never mind!

Yes, I believe in mise en place! Do you really think I could pull this off without?

Oh, in case you were wondering, the waiting list of being a cake subscriber is now full ;)
