Moist and Decadent Dark Chocolate Brownies
Saturday, October 19, 2013A recipe from Whole Foods (giving credit where credit is due, of course). Quadrupled to make 2 13x9 inch pans. But of course! Simple, quick and all ingredients were on hand. Nice...
Ingredients:
680 grams bittersweet (70%) chocolate, chopped
2 cups (4 sticks) butter
8 tsp vanilla extract
12 eggs
3 cups sugar (coz I used semisweet 54%, 4 cups if using the recommended 70%)
1 tsp salt
4 cups flour
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350F.
2. Butter & flour the 2 baking pans, cut parchment paper to make slings, then set aside.
3. In a microwave safe bowl, melt chocolate and butter in 30 second intervals, stirring in between until smooth.
4. Stir in vanilla after mixture cools slightly.
5. In a large mixing bowl, beat eggs and sugar on medium-high speed until creamy, and sugar is dissolved, about 15 minutes.
6. Gently stir in cooled melted chocolate.
7. Stir salt into flour, and fold gently into chocolate mixture. Do not overmix.
8. Pour batter into prepared baking pan and spread to even out.
9. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, then cover with foil, baking another 8-12 minutes until toothpick comes out clean.
10. Remove brownies from oven, let cool slightly in pan before removing with the parchment sling.
11. Cut into squares while slightly warm.
One for a dinner I was going to and another for home.
